Making a Reservation

A responsible person needs to take ownership of the booking and must provide their name, phone number, email address, and home address. Alternatively, reservations can be arranged through a designated company representative by providing the company’s name and contact details. Bookings can be made through the salthaven.nz ‘book now’ portal, by calling +64275329542, or by emailing salthavennz@gmail.com.

The person responsible for the booking must be at least 18 years old and is accountable for the reservation, including overseeing minors under 18. NOTE TO PARENTS: The yard surrounding the accommodation is NOT fenced and leads directly onto a forest-covered embankment that falls to the water.

Onsite Dining Options

Experience our self-catering apartment, complete with an outdoor kitchen featuring a BBQ, electric hob and pots. Commence your stay with a complimentary starter pack including seasonings, coffee capsules, tea, hot chocolate, milk, and snacks.

Dinner Party Onsite in Your Host’s Residence:

We offer limited spots for a home-cooked dinner prepared in our own kitchen, choose vegetarian, chicken or beef.

Booking and confirmation

  • Include your request on the booking form or email us.
  • Submitting a request does not guarantee a seat.
  • Bookings are only confirmed after hosts verify availability.
  • Confirmation will be sent via email along with your invoice.
  • The responsible adult must accompany minors.

Pricing and Payment

  • The dinner cost is $28 per person.
  • Payment as per the payment terms below.
  • Payment methods will be provided upon booking confirmation.

5. Alcohol Policy (BYO)

  • Events operate on a Bring Your Own (BYO) basis.
  • Guests must bring their own alcoholic beverages.
  • Responsible consumption of alcohol is strictly required.
  • Alcohol must only be consumed by those over the age of 18yrs

Payment and Pricing

Salt Haven will issue a non-GST invoice that includes payment instructions. This invoice will be emailed to the email address provided by the booking guest.

Booking ahead. If your stay is more than 7 days away, a 25% deposit is required straight away to lock in your dates. The remaining balance needs to be paid in full by 2 pm on the day of your arrival.

Bookings made less than 7 days before arrival must be paid in full before 2 pm on the day of arrival.

If the payment terms are not met, bookings are cancelled in accordance with Salt Haven’s cancellation and refund policy below. The booking guest is welcome to rebook, subject to availability.

Payment options are bank transfer, credit/debit card with a 4 % fee on top, or cash. We use PayPal to process card payments in a secure and timely way.

The Length-of-Stay Rule Set:

Multi-Night Discounts: Our standard base rate applies to single-night stays. For multi-night bookings, special discounts are applied to your final invoice before payment processing:

  • 2–6 Nights: Save 8% off your accommodation total. 7+ Nights: Save 12% off your accommodation total.
  • Invoice Adjustments: All direct booking requests are reviewed manually. Your final invoice will clearly display these itemised deductions before your payment method is charged

Direct Booking Cancellation and Refund Policy

Bookings are fully refundable up until 7 days before arrival, then the deposit is non-refundable. After guests have checked-in the total amount of the booking is non-refundable.

House Rules

All cooking in the outdoor kitchen. Please ensure the BBQ is turned off at the bottle after each use.

Free car parks for up to 2 vehicles.

Come and go anytime, but be mindful of noise in the hours of darkness.

Promptly report faulty or damaged property

Entry to the owner’s house, upper gardens and garage is by invitation only.

The property and local area are at high risk of fire. No smokers please. Vaping outside is OK.

No pets

Visitor and Party Policy

  • Unregistered Guests: All visitors who are not part of the official booking must be approved by the host in writing before their arrival. Please submit requests via email to salthavennz@gmail.com
  • No Parties: Parties of any size are strictly prohibited on the premises.
  • Sobriety & Conduct: Excessive alcohol consumption, intoxication, illegal drug use, or disruptive behaviour will not be tolerated.

Room Service

You will arrive to accommodation that is made up with linens, toiletries and comes with kitchen equipment and basic ingredients (salt, pepper, oil, milk, tea, coffee, sugar). We provide basic cleaning equipment in the room and any further cleaning or linen changes are by negotiation.

Checking In / Out

Self-check in with a key safe. The code for the safe and directions will be sent 24 hours before arrival.

To check-out please lock up and return the key to the lock box. Please check heaters, fans and lights are off. The BBQ must be turned off at the bottle. We also request that rubbish is placed in the rubbish or recycling bins.

Privacy Statement

We collect information from booking guests or people making enquiries when they, of their own free will, provide information either written or verbal. This could be via a phone call, by submitting a form or emailing. We collect names, addresses and contact information to provide a short-term accommodation service.

We operate an outside CCTV system.

We will not willingly, unless required to for legal reasons, pass on that information to a third party or use the information for any purpose other than operating our short-term rental business.
